⌨️ How to Type Emojis
Complete guide to typing emojis on every device and operating system.
Windows 10 / 11
Win + . or Win + ;
- Press the Windows key and the period (.) key simultaneously
- The emoji picker panel will appear
- Search or browse to find your emoji
- Click the emoji to insert it at your cursor
💡 Tip: You can also use the semicolon (;) key instead of the period key. The picker includes emojis, kaomoji, and symbols.
macOS
Cmd + Ctrl + Space
- Press Command + Control + Space together
- The Character Viewer will open
- Search or browse emoji categories
- Click to insert the emoji
💡 Tip: Click the ⊞ icon in the top right of the Character Viewer to expand it and see all Unicode characters.
iPhone / iPad (iOS)
- Open any app with a text field
- Tap the 🌐 globe or 😀 smiley face icon on the keyboard
- Browse or search emojis
- Tap an emoji to insert it
💡 Tip: If you don't see the emoji keyboard, go to Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard → Emoji.

- Open any app with a text field
- Tap the 😀 smiley face icon on Gboard (or your keyboard)
- Browse categories or search
- Tap an emoji to insert it
💡 Tip: On Gboard, you can also type a word and see emoji suggestions appear in the suggestion bar.
